COLUMBUS, OH (December 2, 2019) – Today, The Elevation Group, creators and producers of Columbus’ music festival, WonderBus, joined their partners at CAS and The Shipyard to present a check in the amount of $50,000 to the The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health as a part of the music festival’s commitment to the hospital.

“We’re thankful for the generosity of CAS, The Shipyard and The Elevation Group and their commitment to raise awareness about the importance of mental health. The money raised during WonderBus supports efforts to combat depression and strengthen suicide prevention programs for the most vulnerable in our communities,” said Dr. K. Luan Phan, chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

During the check presentation event at the CAS Headquarters, Elevation announced Saturday and Sunday, August 29-30, 2020 as the dates for the second installment of WonderBus.  Additionally, Elevation and CAS confirmed an agreement between the two organizations for The Lawn at CAS to host the music festival for the next seven years, through 2026.

“We were so proud to host WonderBus this past August. This festival showed how the power of great music, food and entertainment can unite thousands of people from throughout the region as we celebrated the festival’s ultimate purpose of raising awareness and funding research to treat mental health issues,” commented Dr. Michael Dennis, vice president CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society. “As this cause aligns so well with CAS’s mission to improve people’s lives through the transforming power of chemistry, the seven-year extension was a very quick and easy decision for CAS.”

“The first year of WonderBus was a homerun and is a testament to the vibrancy of this city,” stated Rick Milenthal, CEO of The Shipyard.  “This multi-year partnership between CAS, The Ohio State University, Elevation and The Shipyard will continue to bring great music to Columbus and more importantly, save lives and help fund real solutions in mental health.”
